The world stopped in 2020 and lots of plans were cancelled. A positive of this is it helped me read a lot more than normal! Here are my top 5 books that I read in 2020, and would recommend to everyone!

Becoming — Michelle Obama

The first book of my top 5 is this beautifully written memoir, from the former first lady of the United States.

Released in 2018, this book has topped Book charts across the world — an achievement which I think is well deserved!

Ana Taglioretti was born in Paraguay, three months earlier than expected — on Christmas Day in 1995. After spending the early months of her life in hospital, she was finally discharged — however, Ana had no home to go to as her birth mother abandoned her.

Ana was taken in by the Paraguayan Red Cross who looked after her until her first adoption, which sadly did not last long, as as soon as her blindness was discovered, she was abandoned yet again. Ana was then adopted by a music teacher, who became her mother.

Ana’s mother decided to home school…

As an aspiring author, and someone who is learning more astrology, I wondered what the star signs are of the top authors of this side of the millennium.

I took the top 20 Authors of…

As Charlie took a swig of rum to help force the tablet down, her eyes were transfixed on the mirror.

How could anybody love… this?” she thought to herself.

All Charlie could focus on were the large pores taking over her pale skin, white yet florid. The slight crook in her nose prominent in the center of her face, thanks to her little brother breaking it when they were play fighting as kids in the garden. …

It has been suggested by experts that mental health services across the world will experience a spike in pleas for help, and i’m not surprised. The coronavirus has taken over the world, infecting hundreds of thousands of people. To tackle the WHO declared pandemic, governments are shutting down their countries, advising that we stay inside, work from home and practice social distancing.

Dear 4 year old Bekk,

Just a heads up, life is going to get crazy and your are going to struggle but please continue to be you and love the things you love (and you will love things or people that the world will disagree with), including the box of fuzzy felt you received last Christmas. When you are well into your twenties, your partner will ask you what your favourite present as a child was, and the fuzzy felt will be your answer. That was awesome.

Sincerely,

29 year old Bekk, who wishes she was better prepared for the battles of life. …

I was supposed to write and post on Medium once a day for 30 days… spoiler alert: I Failed.

I set myself the challenge of writing and publishing on medium every day in May, my last post was May 27th, which not only means a failed that challenge - I’ve gone the longest without writing and publishing since joining Medium!!

I’ll be honest, while I missed a day or two the week before my final post in May, but May was my busiest month of 2019 so far. I had plans weeknights and every weekend, along side my full time…

After four years together, my girlfriend and I knew the next step would be marriage.

It has been a conversation topic for us, more so in the past year, and we both knew that we would get married. But first, one of us needed to propose.

I always said to her I would like her to propose, I’m a natural romantic and like most girls I grew up watching romantic comedies and seeing the most beautiful proposals, hoping one day for that to happen to me. It’s not that my girlfriend didn’t want any of that, she was just… less bothered.

So, as I said, we both knew we would get married, and both knew…

I set myself the challenge of writing and posting every day in May. Considering how busy this month has been for me, I feel I have done well!

I’ve managed to post daily until this week, through busy work days, busy evenings, a wedding, a trip away, several nights out, visiting family and friends and having guests stay at our house. Most days have been busy from start to finish, and the days that haven’t been I’ve just wanted to slob out on the couch!
